1. World’s Oldest #WineAuction: #HospicesDeBeaune Wine Sale

Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune, established in 1443, was originally a hospital founded to care for the sick and provide shelter for the poorest.

Although the hospital moved to modern facilities in 1971, the building remains preserved as a historical and cultural monument.

Today, it attracts many visitors who come to admire its 15th-century Burgundy architecture, leatherwork, and art collections.

Wine Auction?

The world's oldest wine auction at the Hospices de Beaune has its origins in 1859, when new vintages from vines donated by benefactors were first publicly sold.

Proceeds from the auction now go toward the preservation of the heritage and the modernization of local hospital infrastructure.

• Location: Halle de Beaune, Burgundy

• Event: The 165th Hospices Civils de Beaune Wine Sale

• Wine Types: A selection of Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines from the Burgundy region will be auctioned.
